Lettering in Israel.
Dean,
you might try to find a stone known as MIZZI HILU. it's a bone white, finely
chrystalline litographic grade limestone found in Jerusalem (and perhaps
elsewhere). (mizzi hilu is arabic; mizzi -stone, hilu- lovely or sweet).
furthermore you might consult the Geological Survey of Israel and one of their
publications, "Stone Building and Building Stone in Israel" by Ithamar Perath.
good luck.
