sandblasting my stone carvings
Ok heres how it works. I have been wondering about
sandblasting my stone carvings. I'm sure some one is
still alive out there to offer me some assistance. I
love to carve but the lazy side of me hates to sand. I
do most of my work in Indiana Limestone and Marble. I
have tried sandblasting but what seems to happen is that
the softer parts of the stone get blasted down and the
harder grains remain. Is this what happens when you use
sand that is not of fine enough grit? I have been told
that a person can buy crushed walnut shells to blast
with and this will leave a smooth texture. I am not
really looking for a shine from the sandblasting just a
little short-cut. Thanks in advance from a lazy
pneumatic tool addicted stone carver.
