sandblasting my stone carvings
Dear lazy Stonecarver001@xxxxxxx,
" the softer parts of the stone get blasted down and the harder grains
remain."
This is what happens always ... look at the surface contours of
exposed sculptures that have been outdoors for years (like the Sphinx in
Egypt) and you'll see the effects of natural 'sandblasting.'
As a lazy person myself, I use a sandblaster often -- to clean the
surface of the stone, to get a 'frosted' texture, and to cut designs in
the surface.
When I want to smooth the surface uniformly you need to sand with some
sort of mounted abrasive - by hand or power tool.
A lazy person who knows -- Don
