John,

Have not tried the diamond grit pads yet but they are on
my wish list. Can you bend those things around small
contours or are they stiff? If they can bring up a shine
like you say then it sounds like its well worth the
price. Oxalic acid makes me worry a little bit. No
matter how much I have on, respirator, long sleeves and
safety glasses, I always end up with stuff on me.

I completely agree with you about the air tools. Its
still carving because you have to know how to carve
stone or they don't do you any good. I remember when I
bought my first air hammer. I thought the chisel stayed
in the hammer on its own. I hooked it up to the hose and
the chisel shot out. The steps are the same with some
advantages. One I think is the way you can stick a small
flat chisel into a groove you'd like to undercut-move it
back and forth while undercutting to create shadow. Air
tools are best thing since sliced bread.
