Jeff the hand pads come in two versions. One set is backed
with a foam pad about 1 1/4 inch thick, and the others are
velcro backed and if you get a complete set they come with a
block you can attach them to. the foam type are great on broad
flat surfaces, or gentle radiuses both convex and concave. The
velcro type can be worked into tighter areas, but I still find
that I need to riffle, and use some other techniques to clean up
lines formed at the intersection of two planes. Granite City
Tool is the only place I have found the 50 grit, the others are
available from most of the regular sources. I can appreciate
your tale of the chisel flying out of the hammer end. Reckoned
we've all experienced that.
