Wire Saw - Clive - Alternate methods of Cutting?
Clive,
Great idea on using a fix blade stone cutting machine. I will still
push on in an attempt to build a wire saw. However, you really got me
thinking. One thing that sounds great about your saw is the ability to use
hydropower to move the fly wheel. If possible please send me a drawing of
your machine.
Also what is the cost of revamping a four foot wood blade with a
diamond cutting edge. I wonder if a simple length of steel moving back and
forth with a constant flow of graphite slurry would do the trick?
Last, a friend told me about drilling a series of holes into a boulder
in a straight line. Then pounding wood pegs into these holes. The trick is to
allow water to soak into the wood pegs causing them to expand and thus
splitting the rock. Have you heard of this method?
