Subject: European sculpture project

Hi all,

are there any stonecarvers/sculptors in Europe
interested in setting up a joint sculpture project?
Over the past year or two I have been thinking about a
project along the lines of 'children of the quarry'.

The basic idea is, that sculptors from all over Europe
find a quarry local to them and carve a 'mother
figure' in there and then take smaller blocks from
that quarry and carve the 'children'. These should
then be distributed among the participants to exhibit
in various venues/locations alongside photographs of
the 'mother figures'. The figures then should get
something like a 'diary' of their journeys with them.

This is the first draft of the idea and I am now
looking for likeminded sculptors interested in
developing the idea. I know that it will take a lot of
preparatory work before anything could start, so I
just wanted to find out if there is interest at all.

To introduce myself: I had an apprenticeship as
stonecarver in Germany and studied Fine Art in
England. I have now moved back to Germany where I
continue studying alongside having my own (small)
workshop.

You can contact me directly over r_emmans@xxxxxxxxxxx
or via this list.
Have a good time carving
Richard
