European sculpture project
Hello Richard and everyone!
I am a descendent of the autochtone peoples, (French for indigenous
peoples); I would like to purpose the idea of an earth-healing symposium. I
believe "Mother Earth" is the life giver to everything living on this
planet. The project could be a medicine wheel or a Circle of Life. It would
be a permanent site and a monument offer to Mother Earth. It would also
serve to focus on the abuses of the planet that are taking place daily. I do
believe that everyone knows and is aware of the poisoning, strip mining and
cutting down of forests, and so much more, to numerous to mention here. The
symposium could be a unique archeological reconstruction of an ancient
technology. This is what the Medicine Wheel will resemble; the main circle
of the Medicine Wheel is 68 feet in diameter with 28 spokes radiating from
the center representing the length of the day lunar cycle from new moon to
new moon. It can function as a natural calendar using six rock sight lines
that point to the horizon positions of the rising and setting Sun at the
beginning of each season. Medicine wheels are places for energy and
healing, teaching and understanding. They are used for times to reflect on
life, and for joyous celebrations. They represent all of creation, all races
of people, animals, birds, fish, insects, trees, and stones, the sun, moon
and earth are in the circle of the medicine wheel. Each stone tells part of
the story. The circle is all of the cycles of nature, day and night,
seasons, moons, life cycles, and orbits of the moon and planets. Other
astronomically significant features are also included in this monument.
Granite rocks could be gathered from different areas in Europe and elsewhere
and symbols could be carved into these. This is only an idea! Therefore, I
will stop at this and should anyone be interested in this project we could
discuss it further.
