drilling into soapstone
I am new to the list and have been working with alabaster and
soapstone for two years, smaller, direct carving pieces. Lately I've
been working on artistic, oddly shaped cups, vases, etc. carved from
soapstone. I am looking for any ideas at how to drill 2-3 inch holes
with preferably a smooth bottom into 'fragile' soapstone or alabaster.
I do not have access to a lathe. Although I have been successful at
carving these items, the success to break ratio is has not been good.
