soapstone & alabaster sealing
Hi, as per my introduction last week,I'm a beginning carver working in
soapstone and alabaster. I've made some functional pieces (e.g. candlestick
holders, and pen trays) out of soapstone and would like to know if one can
use a "sealer/protectant" on soapstone to reduce scratches incurred through
normal use? Will this produce a dull finish (I'm using fine sanding and
carnauba wax)? Not much in the archives on this. Also with respect to
alabaster sealing, if I'm using a product like stone glamour to protect
against scratches, what yields the best combination of protection/shine?
Two thin coats of sealant and then a coat of wax polish (or please suggest
another polish, then more sealant? I could go on but there are quite a few
variations in the archives with no consensus. I'm using high quality
colorado alabaster. TIA, g2
