John , just visited your web site this mornin....WOW !

You have given me a gift , and a lofty goal to shoot at .

I am mighty impressed, Well Done Sir !

Say , I see you are a geologist ... I ran a gravel quarry
here in Big Spring for three years, on Beals Creek, making
concrete aggregate. But we also buy gravel from 30 miles
north of us here , at Vealmoore. Now this gravel is
completely different from any other stone I have ever seen
in Texas, it is river rock, black and gold, very very
hard... burns up diamond wheels at twice normal rate.

I am not a geologist , and fairly new to peering
underground, so I do not know wethewr to discount the
stories I have heard about the origin of this rock.

The story goes ... " Long ago , there was a huge landslide ,
up in the Alaska country, and it was so big that it sent
this stuff all the way here ."

Now , this sounds a lot like Pecos Bill tales to me , but
maybe so ...

Any ideas? it is all very near the surface, and I hear that
this stuff crops up down south of us also , but not sure
just where... I know I have never seen it anywhere else.

Maybe the USGS ask-a geologist could help... By the way ,
the joke about geologists out here in west texas goes..."
How is the quickest way to call a geologist ?

Snap your fingers in the air, and say " Oh Waiter !"

Ah well, one of these days we will have another oil boom
...maybe we will not mess this one up like we did the last
one .

Great Site , John , Fantastic work !

Thanks in advance for any idea on Vealmoore Rock.
