leveling
Hi Linda
If your trying to flatten the 6 X 12 surface you could try gluing
a sheet of sandpaper to a flat surface (grit side up) and sliding the piece
back
and forth over it (if its the 12 X 12 side, I suppose you could use more
sandpaper?).
Keep checking your work and you will see the high spot,
when the sanding marks appear uniform over the
entire area you are done.
I don't work with alabaster so I'm not able to supply you with the grit but
experiment
on something not near and dear to your heart.
I know it's soft so you could probably use a coarser grit first and work
your way to the finer grit to the desired finish.
This is an old wood working trick that I have used and found it gives me
a lot of control.
Best regards
