Wet vs Dry
Hello everyone,
I am relatively new to sculpting in stone, so if this is a
ridiculous question, please bear with me.
I have been carving in marble lately (with hand chisels) and
while I was working the piece today, I wet it down to look
at a particular patch of grain. Satisfied with what I saw,
I started chiseling while the stone was still wet.
I then began to wonder if there were any benefits or
pitfalls in working the stone while wet. I know that unless
it is a steady stream of water, power tools (like drills)
tend to overheat from added friction. But is there any
effect on hand chiseling?
Thanx,
Steve
