Subject: Wet vs Dry

I am also quite new to carving, but am in a Architectural Stone Carving
College and my instructor likes us to experiment in both wet and dry to see
which we prefer when carving tindle limestone. There are extremely hard
parts of stone marbled through soft chalk areas, and some people find more
control with it wet. (We also work manually with chisels). When working
sandstone we try to work it wet all the time because of the hazardous dust,
and it can also soften up areas that might be very hard. Haven't had the
opportunity to try marble yet, but hope to in the future!

Hope this helps a little!
