Have you tried the same technique but using sections
of old rubber tyre inner tubes?
The result is beautiful sand bag 'sausages' with delightful
curves of your own desired length.(people often prefer
them to the sculpture I make using them!)
Different size tyres produce variations that you can
combine together to hold or support all manner of
awkward shapes.
