symposiums
Jesse,
I'm very interested in your experiences in Japan. How was
the symposium in Japan run, what did you do, how were travel
and living issues handled? Did you take your own equipment?
Stuff like that.
I know of two sympoisums type events in this country.
There is an event in Indiana that lets stone sculptors of
all levels work with profissional stone carvers in the
Indiana Limestone industry. It takes place in Bedford
Indiana, the stone center of the state. I think the object
is to promote the stone and let people improve their skills
. Look for more information by contacting the Bedford
chamber of commerce, and also Indiana University.
There is another large event that takes place in Loveland
Colorado. There is a huge abandoned marble quarry near there
that the area people are very aggressivly promoting . I
think they have a major stone sculpture show and a festival
at least once a year. I'm fuzzy on the details, but there is
a website for Loveland Colorado that you can check out.
The Georgia Marble company was hosting a sculpture show at
one time , but I haven't heard about it for quite a while.
I hope there are more people who can pass on more
information on this subject.
Good Luck
George Graham
