I have a masonry block saw (20 inch blade) that I purchased
used that is useful for some cutting. It is 240V and I do
run it with water on a GFI. The receptacle itself is not
GFI. The circuit breaker has the GFI built into it at the
panel. The main problem with a block saw is you are limited
to pieces not much larger than the sled you push into the
chop saw blade. It is great for those table top pieces, but
when I get into anything that will be taller than about 2
feet I cannot use this saw very easily.

I checked into the phase converter stuff about a year ago
and it seemed feasible up to about 10HP, and then it seemed
to get more challenging from there.

I have never heard of a ring saw. What is it?

Good luck
