Electric cutoff saws; hydraulic ring saws
Thanks Ken and Zoorea for your notes. I have worked with
wedges and shims some; they seem most useful for coarse
splitting of large stones. I am still enamored with the saw
idea, as I forsee doing some more careful splitting, as well
as carving roughout shapes.
My mistake: the Partner electric saw is only 14", not 16".
A ring saw does not have the blade rotating from the center,
but rather, from the edge, thus the great cut depth. See
http://www.constructioncomplete.com under masonry equiptment
handheld cutoff saws. Expensive!
Anyone else out there with more info?
