This is an address that came to me recently from Japan it is worth
checking out. Also most foreigners who are trying to get into
symposiums in Japan with no contacts start with Iwate. It is the first
symposium started in Japan and is still going. Last year they picked 4
artists. 2 foreigners. The contact information is in the symposium
list in traces. I dont have a current e mail address for them. If you
send them photos and a resume they are good at responding one way or the
other. The deadline last year was in february so if you want to apply
for this year look for a fax number. There are other symposiums but
many are impossible to apply for without an introduction or are done by
invitation and not competition. Good luck.
