Subject:
GFCI, wet electric tool safety
Hello friends,
Can anyone reliably advise me as to the general principal on using
electric tools with water (e.g., ordinary drills for wet core drilling,
angle grinders for wet sawing)--is it safe to use ANY electric tool with
water so long as a GCFI is used? Or are there only certain types of
tools that are safe? If so, what is the difference in their
construction?
What has been your experience with using electric tools around water? Do
you get shocked despite the GCFI, and if so, is that not serious? How
reliable are they? (I once was mildly shocked when an extension cord to
a light drooped into water on the floor, even though it was connected to
a GCFI outlet, which never tripped.)
Thanks for your help on this critical question.
