Subject: Introduction and question...

hello everyone! I have been lurking on this list for about a week now and
decided it was time to introduce myself. I am an archaeologist by profession
with an interest in the arts. I make jewelry and recently decided to try my
hand at stone carving, something I have been interested in for a while. I,
perhaps ignorantly, chose to carve a head from my 25 ib alabaster block.

Anyway, its coming along all right, but I have a question regarding the
eyes, for those who do realistic sculptures....is there any easy way to make
sure the eyes are symmetrical? I am having some trouble getting them
correctly proportioned and aligned freehand. I have only carved lightly on
one of the eyes, however I have gone quite deep on the other eye. I wantd to
ask now before I carve any deeper into the shallow eye....thanks for reading
this long winded intro! I am enjoying this lists discussion greatly! Justin
