intro & question
Hi Justin,
There are several techniques you could employ for your
end. The question is, do you REALLY want to do this?
The last attempt to create symmetrical sculpture in
art history is to be found in socialist realism or in
Nazi sculpture. Impressive though that both of these
styles seem, they both look like dead ornamental
design works to me, rather than figurative sculpture.
I carve a lot figurative work and never bother to even
try to achieve symmetry, which gives surprising
results sometimes. The pieces to me look more alive
and gain some sort of personality outside of my
influence.
Have fun carving
Richard
