Splitting (cleaving) Slate
Thanks Stephen,
The slate is Ffestiniogg and Llanberis mixture (bits from both). I too saw a
demo of slate splitting at Llanberis but at the crucial moment my 1 year old
daughter decided to drop her metal box of pencils and some sweets on the floor
and proceeded to scream loudly until my wife took her out of the room.
Subsequently I (and the rest of the room I expect) didn't get to see slate being
split!
Absolutely fascinating place though.
I will try to get a slim bolster. I am sure your advice of halving will help too
- I have been trying to remove smaller areas.
Again thanks.
Jez.
