Subject: Polishing basalt, granite

Help! It's driving me crazy. When I polish granite or basalt with my
Viper resin diamond pads, they leave green traces of the resin in pores
in the stone. How do I get rid of these, or prevent them, or is there a
better brand of pads that doesn't do this? They also leave oily-looking
streaks of the actual resin on the final grits. Does anyone know how to
get rid of these, or a pad that doesn't do this? I have tried buffing
it with Diaglo diamond polishing powder for black granite. Problem is,
even though the powder is grey and made for black granite, it is not as
black as the basalt, with the result that when I get all done I have a
highly polished stone with distinct white flecks all over it, like
permanent dandruff. Any ideas how to get rid of that?

Finally, is there any pad that has more "bite" or is more aggressive
than the resin pads yet still gives a high shine?

Thanks for your thoughts on this.
