Subject:
Packing and posting stone
Sorry to post a really boring subject, but I'm having real trouble with sending slate through the post. I have a 1m long, narrow piece to send, so it is fragile. Could anyone advise me on the best way to pack it so that it won't get broken in transit?
Also, Royal Mail informs me that all its parcels go through a central sorting office that involves conveyor belts and other hazards for fragile objects. If I pay the much higher charge for a courier service, does this avoid such hazards? If so, can anyone recommend a reliable and cheapish courier (UK / Ireland)?
Thanks
Jane
