blue marble and asbestos
Randy,
RandyJ said "All of this is one
reason I have gone entirely to wet cutting, and still wear a respirator. "
I work in my garage in the winter and outside when it's warmer. I would
like to hear about your setup for carving with water. I can't let the water
run all over the garage floor or run down the street in my planned
community. Consequently, I will have to recycle the water and dispose of
the sludge.
Not being rich, I can't afford the commercial rigs that I've seen in some of
the trade catalogs. Currently, I use a respirator whenever I'm carving or
changing clothing. Afterwards, I pick up the bigger pieces by hand and
sweeping. Then I finish by vacuuming with a HEPA filter vacuum. All said,
I know that's not enough. My Dad wasn't killed by asbestosis, but he
trailed an oxygen bottle for the last 10 years of his life before he died of
an unrelated heart attack at 82. Although, he got it by working in a
refrigerator manufacturing plant in the 1930's, I still want to avoid the
same fate - it wasn't pretty.
Thanks, ...john
