John,

I set up a water recycling system in my urban garage a couple years ago
for wet cutting. My garage is built into the ground and is 100%
concrete, so I did not have to worry about keeping the walls dry. I
took a portion of the back of the garage that was about 10 feet by 8
feet and designated that as the wet room. I did have to jackhammer out
the concrete floor and re-pour it with a slope towards a sump hole. I
put a sump pump in that hole (covered by a strong but permeable lid).

The sump pump moved the water into a 55 gallon plastic drum, where it
was in turn pumped through piping to supply my saw/grinders. I also
got one of those commercial refrigerator curtains (lots of thin strips
of plastic) to keep the water spray in my wet area. I would guess I
spent $1,300 to $1,500 on the area, although I did nearly all of the
work myself. I hired a concrete guy to help me with the floor slope
and sump hole forming. If you are in a traditional wood frame garage
you would need to seal those walls off, especially the floor, because
you don't want any water standing at the base of the wood wall.
