Subject: mystery ailment

On the subject of health hazards:
I've been carving stone for 10 years or thereabouts
and have developed a strange ailment which could be
connected. If I describe it perhaps it might ring a
bell with someone, as it certainly hasn't rung any
bells with various medical specialists I've seen.
It's a swelling around one eye (just the one) no pain
no redness or infection apparently, just a slight
disfigurement! I've had it several years, it comes and
goes , more comes and less goes actually as it never
goes away. It doesn't appear to be allergic as it is
so localised. That's it, sorry to enter this
conversation with something so marginally connected to
stone, but I've got in the habit of asking all over
since it's so mysterious.

I do have something to offer on an earlier topic:
rifflers- Sandvik make a sanding disk for use in
electric drills, which consists of a metal surface
'welded' to a rubber backing . The abrasive consists
of minute tungsten carbide mushrooms attached to the
face. You can cut the disc into shapes to suit the job
using good snips and riffle away like crazy! The
rubber backing gives you something to hold onto, and
the abrasive cuts well on most stone, being tungsten.
Also, last but not least those disks only cost (last
time I bought one) £ 1.50!!
Good carving and riffling to all!
Tom
