Alabaster mounting rods
Greetings Carvers, I have some small-sized alabaster and steatite carvings
that I want to mount on stone bases using metal rods. I haven't been able
to find any stainless steel rods at the many local hardware stores and
chains (well I found threaded rods but not unthreaded ones), but I did find
some nice looking aluminum rods. Can alabaster or steatite be mounted with
aluminum or will it react with the stone (i.e. cause deterioration or
discoloration). TIA, g2
