mystery ailment
This mysterious ailment reminds me of what I have seen in
N.Africa, a sharp small piece of sand would lodge in the
eye, it would glaze/scar over, and it would cause swollen
ansd a red eye. the locals would take a razor blade and slit
the eye so the stone would fall out, several days later the
eye would be OK. years later when I had my own construction
crew I would notice some men with red swollen eyes,
especially the ground crew when we were installing steel
siding. The drilling of the siding screws would produce a
microscopic strip or chip that would lodge in the eye, which
would glaze over, sometimes causing problems or not. The
doctor would remove these by freezing the eye and using a
large calibre needle scrap it off.
Now when I have people over to learn stone carving i make
them wear googles, REMEMBER!! WEAR EYE PROTECTION!!
thanks i hope this helps. Wayne
