hand carving memorials
Subject: [stone] hand carving memorials
Dear Karen
I make memorials with slate, sandstone (yorkstone, St Bee's etc), limestone
(Portland, Ancaster, etc), slate and marble. I don't know if there are
equivalents for these in your area, but really any stone that cuts cleanly
and is hard enough for definite letters is OK. It's probably worth
experimenting, also try asking your local memorial mason what they use
(although they probably use a lot of granite). Good luck!
Jane.
