problem w/ chisel
hello list members,
I have a problem it seems...I finished my first stone carving in raspberry
alabsaster about a month ago....which turned out pretty well....I just
recieved 130 LBS of Marble in 2 blocks, one portoro (grey w/ gold striping)
and 1 blue marble. I started chipping away at the portoro today and found,
to my dismay, that my point chisel dulled after 2 strikes! I mean, this
chisel lasted throughout my first carving, over (2 months) without the point
dulling noticeably, and today after about 10 minutes of carving, the point
of the point chisel is flat! Did I buy inferior chisels? They did come as a
"begininers kit" with my block of alabaster....perhaps they were meant only
for alabaster? Or is this normal? I am asking this question before I run out
and buy several higher quality (read expensive!) chisels....hopefully
someone can help me!
Thanks List! Justin
