steels
Thought that I would mention that Trow and Holden offers tool
steel blanks in several sizes, all coming with a half inch round
shank end for pneumatic hammers. I have had several gouges
forged from these blanks, and the steel seems to be quite good.
I am also fortune enough to have acquired several old carvers
chisels that were made from a carbon steel alloy that an old
tool maker called "Black Diamond" Apparently, this steel is no
longer made, but some of the smiths through the stone belt in
Indiana still have a bit of it on hand.
