My secrets out. Ga marble for $100/ ton. It's basically their breakage pile
of the quarry. They won't ship, you have to show up with a truck.. The stone
is there to be crushed and sold as marble dust. However you can find any
shape or size and quality of GA marble, both Pink and white stone in there.
Technically they do not suppose to sell marble to individuals but they
support and will sell to stone carvers. They are always interested in seeing
photos of your work.

Ga marble is perfect for the outdoors. It is a strong marble that doesn't
get "sugary" from being outside. The Lincoln Memorial is made of GA marble.
Disadvantage is that it is composed of larger crystals and not as easy to
carve detailed work. I go down to GA around Christmas every year to get
marble. If your interested we can talk about getting some over to Richmond.
Glad to hear of other VA Carvers. Our group here in Charlottesville VA is
starting out with 7 members and growing.
Happy carving,
Jeff
