Removing paint from soft stone ??????????
A site I frequent that is primarily concerned with marble and
granite restoration and installation often recommends paint
strippers based on the chemical methelyne chloride for removing
paint from the stone. It is my understanding that this will not
do damage to the stone, but can do damage to the user if the
proper safety precautions are not used. A recent thread on the
site mentioned strippers based on the chemical
N-Methyl-Pyrrolidone as being less hazards but also much slower
working. BTW the site mentioned is http://www.ntc-stone.com.
