Advisability of buying a used pneumatic hammer
Greetings all-
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tim Bunton and I am an avid stone
carver as well as a chemical engineer. I have been following the posted
email conversations on learningstone.com for quite some time, but just now
finally got around to subscribing to the mailing list.
I have been using hand tools up to this point, and am ready to make the
crossover to pneumatic tools in order to work faster on larger pieces. I'm
thinking of purchasing a used pneumatic hammer from Wenzco Supplies.
Question: Do air tools, particularly hammers, age well? Will I be giving up
quality or efficiency just to save a buck if I buy used tools?
In addition, I want a middle-of-the-road hammer that can work marble and
granite. Should I get a B (short stroke) or a D (Dallet-style) hammer? Any
help or pearls of wisdom you can give me would be much appreciated.
