protective carrying case for my points and chisels?"
You might want to take a look at something more sturdy than a tool roll. As
many are aware, just slight bumps can crack or chip the carbide tips of
chisels so they should be adequately protected. Tool rolls (especially in
luggage) might not be sufficient. I would recommend a padded aluminium case
that are commonly sold at major tool stores (via web you can try Harbor
Freight Tools or Toolcrib). The cases are sturdy on the outside, preventing
the tools from being crushed, and inside is usually black foam padding that
protects the chisels from shocks and prevents them from moving. You can wrap
the tools in cloth and then place them in the case for extra protection. Be
prepared, however, to have this bag opened and inspected at the airport
(plan extra time) for the hand check. Leave room, however, for your
purchases in Italy! Taburosa is a tool company I buy from (in Pietrasanta
area) and they have really good prices on pnuematic carbide tipped chisels!
Hope this helps. Have a great trip.
