Letter Carving Workshop in NC, USA
Jim and Joyce Teta have scheduled two workshops in the mountains of
North Carolina for those interested in letter carving. John Stevens is a
master of brush written Roman Caps. Tom Perkins is a widely respected
letter carver from the UK. Cost includes instruction, lodging and meals.
Brush + Romans: John Stevens. March 14-19, 2004.
Introduction to the handling of the broad-edge brush for Roman Capitals.
Introdution to Lettering in Stone : Tom Perkins. May 2-7, 2004
A rare opportunity to study lettercarving with a master. Tom Perkins
will lead us through the methods and practice of designing small
inscriptions and carving them into slate or stone. Through example and
demonstration, students will get an insite into the step-by-step process
of this beautiful art. Subjects: design, transfer to stone, tools,
working methods & proper technique and practice, the qualities of fine
lettering and inscriptions. Tom will supply handouts aand show slides.
There will be a materials fee. Tom Perkins resides in the UK.
