Early slate and schist quarrying
There is a museum in Belgium called the museum of stone, only in french.
they have exhibits on early stone working with many examples of the tools
used. Although the stone quarried in the area is not marble but a hard
limestone somewhat harder then new england marble many of the tools and
techniques are the same. I can give you they're e-mail address if you like.
