Moving Large Stones
Marc,
I not only checked the web site for what Wallington calls the "forgotten
technology", I purchased the DVD. I found it entertaining for a lot of
reasons, but it didn't break new ground, so to speak. Any of us who
regularly move large stones around by ourselves use the same techniques
instinctively. Archimedes said "Give me a big enough lever and I will move
the world." Frankly its quite easy to move a large regular block on a slab
of concrete as Wallington does. He never does show how he managed to flip
the block so he could drill and bolt on a steel fulcrum. His methods for
raising stones in the air were all standard stuff also.
I was initially excited also when I heard of this website. I thought that I
could learn some new techniques. All I really learned was how far one man's
obsession will take him, which is interesting and a tribute to the human
spirit.
