Titles
Dear Linda,
I don't think you've got much to worry about with, "White Cats" it sound
fine to me even with your name in front, Linda Harbison's "White Cats". In a
way the "boring titles" always work best because they let the viewer add
what they want to the work.
It's the Untitled 1 to 1000 + that I think is worth commenting on, apart
from the fact that the artist has to keep incredible records so that they
can remember what "Untitled 555" actually looked like, I see it as a problem
if a viewer can think that "untitled" means that the artist doesn't even
know what the work is about. I even feel that its more of a problem for
"abstract" artists than figurative ones, if I title one of my heads
"untitled" it would simply allow the viewer to make up their own as they can
see what it is.
Best regards Clive
