Introducing myself
I have been standing in the shadows reading the commentary on the stonelist
for a couple of weeks now and have finally decided to step into the light. I
am a land surveyor in Statesville, NC, USA. I have been surveying for over
20 years and mostly enjoy being outside observing nature and people in the
course of my work. I've always been interested in art, working with clay,
wood and most recently soapstone. The soapstone I have been using are found
pieces located in the northeastern part of the county that I work in. It is
generally grayish white in color with few to many impurities in it,
depending on the specimen. The best thing about it is that it is free. My
question is, how much would I appreciate working with some of the
commercially available soapstone which I have seen advertised as free of
impurities with several colors to choose from. Thanks for your input.
