Carving Raised Letting in Georgia Marble
Hi,
I have a couple of questions about this and the items leading up to it
(I've never done this kind of work).
1) How do you do the positive-relief sandblasting? Do you apply the
whole text in rubber letters and then blast down the surrounding rock?
Can one buy letters or are they self cast? If so, how? Do the corners
of the letters round off?
2) About the mounting of the marble slab, does gypsum really dissolve
in the marble matrix? Does this require a lot of water, and how long
would it take to diffuse through, say, an inch of marble, a few years
or eons? Amazing.
thanks,
