Introducing myself; Shop Design
Bill,
First, welcome. I've been part of this discussion group for only a very
short while and find it very interesting. As a biochemist I may be in a
situation similar to yours as an attorney -getting into stone because
of a great desire to do something different, manual, and visually
creative! In my case there is also the mountaineering as an outlet but
its not creative. I've done some woodworking (making a kitchen and some
furniture) and but for some reason stone feels good to me.
As to your questions, I'm very interested in learning where this all
goes. I'm behind you in terms of setting up a place (I still rent a
room to avoid the nose bleed prices and awful commute in DC) but hope
to soon move to a place with space and a chance to set up a work shop.
I have almost all the same questions that you do, from studio size to
lighting to hoists to archives. I look forward to the answers.
