Introducing myself; Shop Design
I guess I'm still on this subject of lighting. I'd very much like to
hear from some more experienced voices. In the long run, do people like
natural light, northern ligh, outdoors, windows, flourescent, full
spectrum, whatever? Personally I hate enclosed, windowless spaces (I
worked in a cramped lab in a sub-basement for 8 yrs before getting a
window) but if experience shows that certain ideas (e.g. lots of
sunlight) are simply bad, and for specific reasons, then its worth
listening. Is there a consensus on lighting? I'm listening closely to
the discussion on shop design as I'm currently house hunting and
considering the options available for an eventual work area.
As regards the concrete floor, I was in the barn of a horse
veterinarian this weekend (lots of expensive horses here in Maryland
and Virginia) and he had these 5' x 5' tough polymer mats over the
concrete floor. I guess they were to make standing on concrete easier.
These things were tough and simply shrugged off the horse traffic, and
they looked like they could easily be moved.
