Subject:
ancient Greek-style point work
Hello,
I found references in a book about the fact that the ancient Greeks did most
of their carving and finishing work using just the point - no claw or flat
chisels at all. They seem to have been Roman inventions...
I was then looking at some fine Greek carvings here in Munich at the
Glyptothek and marvelled at their beatiful texture.
I wonder if anyone has experience with this kind of work and whether they'd
share some of it - do's and don'ts.
Thinking of it... all it took was a point... amazing.
Very intrigued,
Andrei
