Subject: Bali Frieze

I have acquired a stone frieze made in Bali, about 40x40x4 inches, heavily
carved on one side. I believe that is it made of sandstone and is in a
cream color. During shipment to the retailer the frieze was broken into
many pieces, after which the retailer reconstructed the frieze with an
epoxy made or specifically used for stone. There remains however many
cracks on face of the frieze, some hairline in nature and some more deeply
visible. What I am looking for is information, web links or reference
material which I can learn from to do repairs to the frieze. I would like
to know more about preparing and filling the cracks with stone dust repair
and what chemicals or compounds to use to produce a seamless repair.

I do not have experience in stone, but am familiar with other repair
techniques with wood, etc.. The frieze is of sufficient size to get some
raw material from the back of the stone - depending on how much is needed.
I can provide an electronic picture if it would be helpful. I would
appreciate direct feedback and especially pointers to easily accessible
reference information on repair techniques.
