Subject: problems sanding and finishing alabaster

Dulce Maria Rico asked:
I use 80 grit and I find it very hard to get all the surface perfect. I
would also like to get a wonderful shine, like glass, but don't seem to be.

What I do with that stone is saving some of the dust of that stone while
grinding it. After I'm done with the shape and sanding to the small grit, I
change to budywork sand paper(the one they use for car panting) witch
require water and start with the fine one with water then the extra fine
with water then I take a cotton rag that I wet and take the fine dust of the
same stone and rub. For Alabaster you dont need as much work than with
marble. To see if you're done, check by polishing with a clean cotton rag
or better, a discarted bath towel.

Try that and let us know, It works for me
