dust masks
Syd,
I found my beard had to be mowed off, if I was going to get a good seal with
the respirator. It was a hard decision, as I absolutely hate shaving, but
had to be done. If you look at http://www.woodworkingshop.com under their
safety equipment, some bright person (with a beard, no doubt) has invented a
"beard-friendly" device called the "Resp-O-Rator." It's a bit pricey, but
ingenious - sort of an aqualung for dust mongers like us. It might protect
you better.
