Bali Frieze
Simon, sorry it has taken so long to reply. This is great, just the kind of
experienced advice I was looking for. Your tips are right on, this is crack
repair - actually repairing crack seams that remain from a reconstuction.
There is no urgency to the repair, only quality. I was concerned about
shrinkage, darkening and remaining with a 'rubbery look' repair which can be
left from silicon like compounds.
Drilling - vs scrapping - also sounds like a better method of obtaining raw
material from the back than I was thinking. And overfilling also good plan
- like wood paste. Adding lighter sand and mixing to reverse the darkening
effect is also an excellent tip.
I am not familiar with Cemstick - so hope that I can find in the average
Home Depot.
I also asked the retailer the nature of the stone and they think that it is
limestone. Don't know if that would change any of your tips. I can send a
pic of the frieze if you think that it would be of help.
John
